Who we are

Sue and David are your hosts and are always on hand to provide you with local information to help you get the most from your stay herei n the holiday home.
Sue is a full time teacher at a local primary school and in her spare time provides courses in traditional willow bosket weaving to guests and visitors. Sue is a member of the Basket maker’s Association and runs 2 day courses in basket making and the art of how to make traditional willow lobsterpots, as once used in this area. She has a wealth of local knowledge and was herself taught by one of the last of a generation of local fisherman. She likes to use locally grown willow where possible.
David is the last full time commercial crab and lobster fisherman in Hope Cove. His boat “The Artful Dodger 3” is anchored in the beautiful Salcombe harbour. Should you fancy a fish supper of the freshest lobster and crab in town please just ask. Weather permitting of course.

The Main Flat

Entering the holiday home feels like a home from home. Climbing the stairs you come into a large open landing library area which has a sofa comprising stacked single beds, easily moveable to other rooms for extra guests. You enter the dual aspect, spacious living area with fully equipped kitchen.  This benefits from a dining area with table that can be extended to seat eight people. Additional seating includes a large corner group sofa (which converts to a double bed), and a good quality  flat screen TV.
There is a fireplace with stove effect electric fire to supplement the central heating. Wi-Fi is available.  There is also a selection of DVDs, books, and board games to enjoy throughout your stay with TVs in most rooms. The lounge leads into the second double bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and features all modern appliances including a washing machine, fridge-freezer, microwave and cooker.
Large parties may by arrangement be able to use the hosts farmhouse style, kitchen for a special meal, with its two large tables that seat 16.
Bedroom 1
The master is very spacious and features a sumptuous wrought iron bed with beautiful bedding (room for an additional bed or cot, and 4 seated table) The Full length double door window opening onto a balcony allows the sound of the countryside to wake you in the morning and the sound of the waves to lull you into a deep sleep after dark.
The en-suite bathroom complete with a wc, bidet, shower and Jacuzzi bath, has everything you need to relax and unwind.
Bedroom 2
Bedroom 2 is a pretty room and also features a super comfortable double bed,  radio alarm and TV, immediately next door to the bedroom is the second bathroom and features a skylight which lets you watch the stars as you bathe in the generous bath. There is also a WC, Bidet and shower mixer.

Additional Rooms

Oak stairs lead to the ground floor of the main house where there is the option of a 3rd family room with a double and bunk beds.  and separate bathroom. The fourth bedroom currently has twin beds and en-suite power shower.
The homely lounge has two sofas, easy chairs, a piano, stereo  system, 40″ Samsung TV and open log burning fireplace.
The garden enjoys secluded privacy and is well stocked with a variety of plants, shrubs and a small pond.  It is available to use throughout your stay and is enclosed by paddock fences. A lawn area and a decked patio with furniture make It ideal for summer barbecues and dining alfresco.  There are sun loungers and a cosy wooden cabin/summerhouse.

Additional Info

  • Well behaved pets are welcome. Prices include bed linen, towels, heating, electricity and wireless internet.  A deposit will secure the booking by direct arrangement. Changeover day is usually Sunday in school holidays but long weekends and flexible arrangements are possible at other times.
  • Crabs and lobster may be ordered from the hosts own fishing boat and a demonstration of how to pick and prepare them as part of a shellfish supper is possible on request.
  • In winter and early Spring the hostess conducts basket work, and crabpot making weekends and courses for small groups by arrangement.
